Christine Conrad Christine Conrad's activism for women's health was galvanized by her own serious illness and subsequent difficulty finding treatment. Natural Woman, Natural Menopause (Harpers Collins) was published in 1997, followed by A Woman's Guide to Natural Hormones (Perigee) 2000. Both books became bestsellers. She recent updated A Woman's Guide to Natural Hormones, December 2005. In 1997, she founded the non-profit Natural Woman Institute in order to support the ideas in the book, as she felt her job was only half done if woman could not find the right doctors to treat them. The NWI has a database of over 2,000 doctors in the US and Canada, and has helped thousands of women get the treatment they deserve. She has had a rich and varied career in theatre, New York City politics, as an editor in book publishing, as a screenwriter for motion picture and television, and as a writer of books. She recently wrote Jerome Robbins, a pictorial biography inspired by her long friendship with the renowned choreographer. Her novel, Mademoiselle Benoir was recently published by Houghton Mifflin. It has received excellent reviews(www.mademoisellebenoir.com). |
